This document is based on recent evidence regarding the effect of screening and surveillance on incident colorectal cancer (CRC) and polyp risk, in the era of heightened focus on the importance of high-quality colonoscopy and broader use of technological advances. The objective is to update the 2012 recommendations for follow-up after colonoscopy with or without polypectomy in average-risk individuals.
