The USPSTF reviewed new data to update its 2014 finding of insufficient evidence to make a recommendation regarding screening for cognitive impairment in community-dwelling older adults. They evaluated 287 studies, involving ≈280,000 older participants (age, ≥65), that addressed a range of issues including accuracy of screening instruments, progression of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to dementia, psychopharmacology for Alzheimer disease, and educational interventions for caregivers.
