Risk factors for gastric hyperplastic polyps (GHPs) include chronic Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic atrophic gastritis, and cirrhosis. Despite aggressive procedures, including endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection, these polyps often recur. Furthermore, despite “hyperplastic” suggesting benign disease (and their often-unremarkable endoscopic appearance), GHPs have a risk for neoplastic transformation.
