The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) provides services to low-income persons living with HIV in the U.S. The RWHAP provides essential health services but can also fund temporary housing due to the vital role housing has in overall health status. This report details effects of this housing assistance and concomitant HIV outcomes.
In 2017, the RWHAP assisted 534, 903 persons living with HIV. Compared with 2010, in 2017 the proportion lacking regular housing decreased from 18% to 12.9%, due to a decrease in temporary housing (from 14.2% to 7.8%), while the rate of persons with unstable housing increased (from 3.8% to 5.1%).
