Circadian typologies distinguish morning people (“larks”) from evening people (“owls”) based on preferred times for waking and going to sleep. Job and school requirements might shift these patterns, but ordinarily the distinction is attributed largely to constitutional differences. To examine whether circadian differences correlate with psychologically important traits, an investigator recruited an online convenience sample of 2283 healthy, non–shift-working Spanish adults (64% men), mostly in their late 20s to early 30s, who completed questionnaires concerning their sociodemographics, circadian tendencies, metacognitive beliefs, emotion regulation, and resilience.
