Major depressive disorder (MDD) often recurs, with recurrence rates of up to 60%. To identify potential predictors of recurrence, investigators in a Malaysian multisite study followed 201 patients with nonpsychotic MDD for 5 years.
Exclusions included dementia, schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders, bipolar I or II disorder, and anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
