For patients with new-onset, moderate-to-severe Crohn disease, short-term tight control was shown to improve the rate of achieving deep remission in an industry-funded, multinational study. Researchers now report longer-term outcomes in 122 patients from that study who were followed for a median duration of 3 years after the study end. Patients were stratified by presence of deep remission, defined by a Crohn Disease Activity Index score <150, a Crohn Disease Endoscopic Index of Severity score <4 with no deep ulcerations, and no steroids for ≥8 weeks.
