Background and Objective

Treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) remains somewhat controversial. In a new joint guideline, researchers evaluated available data on the many EoE therapies currently used and developed evidence-based clinical recommendations.

- Proton-pump inhibitors
- Topical glucocorticosteroids
- Elemental diet (either empiric or allergy testing–based)
- Empiric six-food elimination diet
- Endoscopic dilation (for stricture)
