COVID-19 is associated with elevated liver tests in patients without liver disease (LD; NEJM JW Gastroenterol Jun 2020 and Clin Gastroenterol Hepatol 2020 Apr 10; [e-pub]). However, the clinical impact of COVID-19 in patients with underlying LD is unclear.
Now, investigators have analyzed data from the TriNETX Research Network database on 2780 COVID-19 patients (≥10 years of age); 250 had LD, including 50 with cirrhosis. Patients with and without LD were propensity-matched according to comorbidities, age, and race.
