Three early reports describe retrospective cohorts of COVID-19-related admissions to 48 U.S. and Canadian pediatric hospitals between March 14 and April 30, 2020. The International COVID-19 PICU Collaborative (ICPC) of 46 hospitals had 48 admissions to pediatric intensive care units (PICUs) in 14 hospitals; the Children's National Hospital (CNH) in Washington, DC, had 177 admissions, including 9 to the PICU; and Children's Hospital Montefiore (CHM) in New York City had 46 admissions, including 13 to the PICU.
In all three cohorts, patients admitted to the PICU tended to be older, with median ages of 13, 17, and 15 years, respectively. Overall, most patients presented with respiratory symptoms (73%, 76%, and 63%). Fever was present in 66% and…
