A multisystem inflammatory syndrome of childhood (MIS-C) that is temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection was first recognized in the U.K. and was noted to share many signs and symptoms of Kawasaki disease (KD), Kawasaki disease shock syndrome (KDSS), and toxic shock syndrome (TSS). To better understand MIS-C, researchers compared disease features in 58 hospitalized children in the U.K. who met one of the three newly described case definitions of MIS-C and historical cohorts of children from the U.S. and Europe with KD, KDSS, or TSS.
