The endoscopic full-thickness resection (EFTR) device allows transmural resection while simultaneously closing the defect with a large clip. It is intended primarily for use with lesions <30 mm that are not amenable to more-traditional techniques, such as endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection, and as an alternative to surgical resection. In the largest series to date, investigators in the Netherlands report their experience performing 367 colorectal EFTR procedures:
