Recent studies have assessed the risk for colorectal cancer (CRC) incidence and mortality after colonoscopy with or without polypectomy in average-risk individuals. Now, the ESGE has updated its 2013 guideline using the latest evidence. Recommendations apply to patients who have undergone complete polypectomy during a high-quality baseline colonoscopy.
The 2013 guideline's screening/surveillance intervals are retained, but the categories of lesions that are considered low risk and thus qualify for a 10-year interval have been expanded, and the definition of a high-risk lesion is more restrictive.
