Whether immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibody tests are accurate for the diagnosis of celiac disease in children aged <2 years remains controversial. To further study this issue, researchers conducted a multicenter retrospective study of serologic test results in 150 children aged <2 years who had undergone small-bowel biopsy for suspicion of celiac disease. Biopsies revealed features of celiac disease in all 150 patients; 127 fulfilled diagnostic criteria for celiac disease based on clinical history, and 23 did not (controls).
