Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has been making inroads into the world of hepatology for some time. Liver biopsies, once almost universally performed using percutaneous or transjugular approaches, are now routinely performed via EUS at many centers. An important metric in patients with cirrhosis is their portal pressure gradient (PPG), which is usually measured by interventional radiologists in the context of transjugular liver biopsies. However, EUS-guided portal pressure gradient (EUS-PPG) measurement has emerged as an alternative in this setting.
