Concern about peanut allergy has stimulated much discussion among parents and pediatricians. In 2017, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases issued guidelines that provided three recommendations for when to introduce peanuts into an infant's diet (NEJM JW Pediatr Adolesc Med Feb 2017 and J Allergy Clin Immunol 2017 Jan; 139:29). To ascertain the general awareness and implementation of these guidelines, researchers surveyed U.S. pediatricians in 2018; there were 1781 respondents (5% of pediatricians invited to participate in the survey).
