Nerve ultrasound has rapidly developed as an excellent cost-effective modality in imaging of peripheral nerves. With high-resolution images, ultrasonography can detect and identify chronic inflammatory neuropathies (CINs), as well as infective, hereditary, immune mediated, neoplastic and compressive pathologies of the peripheral nerves (NEJM JW Neurol Mar 2019 and Neurology 2019; 92:e443).
To determine the diagnostic accuracy of sonography for CINs, 100 patients seen at three centers for clinically suspected CINs underwent neurologic examination, laboratory tests, nerve conduction studies (NCS), and nerve ultrasound.
