While invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (PA) is usually seen among patients with highly suppressed immune systems, it has been recently recognized in those with influenza, and now in those with COVID-19. Presentation of PA as a complication of these viral infections appears to be distinct. New diagnostic rules have been developed. These authors, from Bologna, Italy, performed a prospective, multicenter cohort study in Italy from February through April, 2020, among 108 adult patients with COVID-19 who were on mechanical ventilation.
