In vitro fertilization (IVF) with elective freezing of all embryos has become increasingly common, as it averts ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and allows the transfer to be performed in an unstimulated cycle. But does this approach perform better than fresh transfer? European investigators assessed pregnancy rates in 460 infertile women with regular ovulatory menstrual cycles (mean age, 32; 96% nulliparous) who were randomized to “freeze-all” or fresh embryo transfer. In the freeze-all group, gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist triggered the cycle, all embryos were cryopreserved, and in a later cycle, one embryo was warmed and transferred.
