Studies have demonstrated an increased risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in individuals who have migraine with aura. In this study, researchers prospectively compared the incidence rates of CVD in women who had migraine with aura and in women with other major vascular risk factors. Self-reported migraine status for the year before baseline was identified among female health professionals aged ≥45 years participating in the Women's Health Study. None had CVD at baseline.
