Approximately 2% to 11% of ischemic strokes occur in the hospital setting. Some of these events are due to surgical procedures, whereas others may be due to conditions such as atrial fibrillation or other cardiac sources of emboli. These authors used the large Get With the Guidelines database to assess trends in metrics for in-hospital acute stroke evaluation and use of either intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) or endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for these patients.
