Lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs) have entered widespread endoscopic use. Usually deployed under endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) guidance, LAMSs allow transmural conduits to be created to pseudocysts, areas of walled-off pancreatic necrosis, the gallbladder, and other hollow gastrointestinal organs. EUS-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) has recently emerged as a new technique to treat patients with benign or malignant gastric outlet obstruction. EUS-GE can potentially obviate the need for a surgical gastrojejunostomy or an enteral stent in these patients.
