Ofatumumab is a subcutaneous anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody self-administered once monthly by injection. It has been approved for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS), clinically isolated syndrome, and active secondary-progressive MS. To compare the efficacy of ofatumumab with the oral drug teriflunomide, researchers conducted two concurrent double-blind, double-dummy, phase 3 trials sponsored by the manufacturer of ofatumumab. Patients with relapsing MS were randomly assigned to receive ofatumumab or teriflunomide. The primary end point was the annualized relapse rate.
