Disrupted interpersonal relationships and social disconnection are common and powerful precipitants of suicidal ideation and attempts. Many suicide prevention programs focus on stress management techniques to enhance the ability to cope with adversity, but fewer programs target improving social bonds and cohesion to lessen the impact of, and improve adaptation to, stress.
