Hepatic resection for limited liver metastases from colorectal cancer leads to long-term survival in select patients, and retrospective studies have suggested that survival outcomes are comparable with laparoscopic or open surgery (e.g., Sci Rep 2017; 7:1012).
Now, investigators at a single center in Norway report updated results including overall survival (OS) of the first randomized, controlled trial (OSLO-COMET) to compare outcomes between laparoscopic and open liver resection in patients with resectable colorectal cancer liver metastases.
