Psychological reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic range from outright denial, to realistic concern, to pervasive and disproportionate worry and anxiety. Individuals distressed by intense, hard-to-control worry and anxiety may experience impaired function and problem solving and even a tendency toward inappropriate healthcare seeking. Researchers in Sweden randomized 670 adults with self-reported uncontrollable worry about COVID-19 and its possible health or financial consequences to a 3-week, self-guided, online intervention using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or a waitlist (control).
