Update on Performance Measures for Atrial Fibrillation and Flutter

Performance measures have been altered to be concordant with the 2019 ACC/AHA guideline on atrial fibrillation.

Background and Objective

Performance measures are widely utilized by regulatory agencies and in public reporting programs. The previous performance measure on atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial flutter was published in 2016 (NEJM JW Cardiol Nov 2016 and Circ Cardiovasc Qual Outcomes 2016; 9:443). Since then, the ACC/AHA has published a focused guideline update on AF in 2019 (NEJM JW Cardiol Mar 2019 and Circulation 2019; 140:e125). The current performance measures incorporate the recommendations from the 2019 update.
