The prior IDEA collaboration — a prospective, pooled analysis of six international trials — provided support for the use of shorter-duration (3 vs. 6 months) adjuvant capecitabine and oxaliplatin (CAPOX) for patients with stage III colon cancer, based on noninferiority for 3-year disease-free survival (DFS; NEJM JW Oncol Hematol May 2018 and N Engl J Med 2018; 378:1177). The shorter-duration therapy substantially reduced all toxicities, including neurologic toxicity.
