With legalization and increasing availability of cannabis products, their use for various medical conditions in older patients has increased, despite limited evidence of efficacy and absence of data on side effects. In this meta-analysis, researchers identified 30 randomized, controlled trials of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that involved 1400 patients and 24 trials of THC plus cannabidiol (CBD) that involved 1900 patients (mean age, 58). Neurodegenerative conditions and cancer were heavily represented among the trials, and target symptoms varied widely.
