The International Duration of Adjuvant Chemotherapy (IDEA) collaboration, which compared 3 versus 6 months of adjuvant chemotherapy in nearly 13,000 patients with stage III colon cancer, established 3 months of capecitabine and oxaliplatin (CAPOX) as the preferred treatment for nearly all patients (NEJM JW Oncol Hematol 2021 Feb and Lancet Oncol 2020; 21:1620). Investigators now report results for patients with high-risk stage II colon cancer included in four of the six IDEA trials.
Of nearly 3300 patients, 64.9% had vascular, lymphatic, or perineural invasion; 33.1% had T4 disease; 19.0% had inadequate nodal harvest; 16.1% had primary tumor obstruction; and 12.3% had perforation. Most patients (62%) received CAPOX, and 38% received fluorour…
