Background and Objective
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is prevalent in patients with solid and hematological malignancies and contributes to morbidity and mortality. Standard management includes low molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) and direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) but is complicated by higher bleeding rates than in patients with VTE without cancer. A panel convened by ASH presents updated recommendation on prophylaxis and management of VTE in cancer patients.
