Although children become infected with SARS-CoV-2 at lower rates and experience milder symptoms than adults (NEJM JW Pediatr Adolesc Med Dec 17 2020; [e-pub] and Pediatrics 2021; 147:e2020027268), a multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) has been described that typically occurs after SARS-CoV-2 infection (NEJM JW Pediatr Adolesc Med Aug 2020 and N Engl J Med 2020; 383:347).
Children and adolescents younger than 21 were identified from the Overcoming COVID-19 network in a study of their clinical presentation and outcomes.
