The manufacturer-supported, randomized COAPT trial demonstrated the benefit of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) with MitraClip at 2 years for patients with heart failure (HF) and secondary mitral regurgitation (MR), compared to guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) only. The researchers now report an additional year of follow-up in about 90% of the participants and describe outcomes for patients originally assigned to the GDMT-only group who later received TEER.
