Among patients with severe COVID-19 requiring hospitalization, cardiac involvement (as demonstrated by elevated cardiac biomarkers) is relatively common. In addition, numerous cardiac complications, including myocarditis and acute myocardial infarction due to a prothrombotic state, have been described.
