To guide vaccine development and inform decisions about boosters, immune correlates of protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection must be defined. Now, investigators have assessed the impact of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody positivity from a prior infection on risk for subsequent infection in a cohort of >3000 U.S. Marine recruits (mean age, 19; 92% male). To exclude active infection, participants underwent 2 weeks of unsupervised home quarantine followed by 2 weeks of supervised quarantine. Those testing PCR-negative for SARS-CoV-2 during supervised quarantine were then followed prospectively for 6 weeks (when they were living and training in close quarters). SARS-CoV-2 testing was performed every 2 weeks during this period.
