The COVID-19 pandemic and attendant lockdowns have negatively affected mental health across the globe. To identify the impact on pregnant and postpartum individuals in particular, investigators conducted an online survey that included validated questionnaires assessing perinatal mental health. The 12-language survey was available from May 26 to June 13, 2020, in 64 countries.
Among 6894 respondents (mean age, 30; 83% pregnant), 31% had scores consistent with anxiety/depression, 43% with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and 53% with loneliness.
