Although ovarian cancer is much less deadly if it is diagnosed early, there is no evidence that screening for ovarian cancer prevents cancer-related mortality. British researchers have been following more than 190,000 women who were randomized between 2001 and 2005 to multimodal screening (MMS; annual CA125 measurements with transvaginal ultrasound [TVS] for elevated or increasing CA125 levels), screening with only TVS, or no screening. Screening ended in 2011.
