Ultrasound Renal Denervation Shows Modest Effects in Resistant Hypertension

Catheter-based renal denervation (RDN) has had mixed results in patients with hypertension. Recently, however, radiofrequency or ultrasound RDN has been shown to reduce blood pressure (BP) modestly in patients with mild-to-moderate hypertension. To evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound RDN in patients with resistant hypertension, researchers conducted the industry-supported, two-phase, multinational RADIANCE-HTN TRIO study (NCT02649426).
