This double-blind, randomized, controlled trial compared the investigational oral drug atogepant (10 mg, 30 mg, or 60 mg) with placebo in 910 adults with 4 to 14 migraine headaches per month. Patients with >14 headache days per month or with clinically significant coexisting conditions and those who did not respond to more than 4 preventive medications or used opioids or barbiturates on more than 2 days per month were excluded. The study was sponsored by the manufacturer, and atogepant is undergoing FDA review for approval.
