The manufacturer-supported, randomized COAPT trial demonstrated improved survival, fewer heart failure hospitalizations, and better quality of life with transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) of secondary (functional) mitral regurgitation (MR) compared with guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) only (NEJM JW Cardiol Nov 2018 and N Engl J Med 2018; 379:2307). In this secondary analysis, investigators examined the relationship between residual MR and outcomes with both TEER and GDMT alone.
