Basilar artery occlusion (BAO) has long been recognized as an acute stroke syndrome with poor prognosis. Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) has been established as effective treatment for select patients with large-vessel occlusion in the anterior circulation, but the role of EVT is not established for BAO. Now, researchers have evaluated the observational BASILAR clinical trial, conducted at multiple centers in China over a 5-year period.
