The effects of erenumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor and used to treat migraine, are likely restricted to the periphery. To see whether erenumab is effective for migraine with aura, researchers compared the safety and efficacy of erenumab (70 mg or 140 mg) in a total of 2682 patients with migraine with and without aura in a post hoc secondary analysis of pooled data from double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trials. Three trials included adults with episodic migraine and one included adults with chronic migraine. Patients were excluded if they had significant vascular disease, and two studies excluded patients with uncontrolled hypertension.
