Although the new antitubercular agents bedaquiline and delamanid have been associated with QT prolongation as an adverse event (AE) in clinical trials, both drugs are increasingly used in the management of drug-resistant tuberculosis (TB), along with quinolones, injectable agents, clofazimine, and linezolid. In a multinational, prospective cohort study of patients with rifampin-resistant/drug-resistant TB, investigators evaluated the frequency of pre-defined AEs of special interest (AESIs) including QT interval prolongation, peripheral neuropathy, optic neuritis, myelosuppression, hearing loss, electrolyte depletion, hepatotoxicity, and hypothyroidism.
