Currently, statins, ezetimibe, and monoclonal antibodies directed against PCSK9 reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and have shown improved cardiovascular outcomes in randomized, controlled trials. Recently, several novel agents have gained FDA approval, including inclisiran, bempedoic acid, and evinacumab, which have proved LDL reduction but not yet been shown to improve cardiovascular outcomes. The current review article provides a summary of their mechanisms, indications, and efficacy.
