Pregnancy confers excess risk for viral complications in those infected with SARS-CoV-2. Whether SARS-CoV-2 infection increases risk for obstetric complications was explored in this retrospective U.S. cohort study of 2352 pregnant patients who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 during or within 6 weeks of their pregnancy. This cohort was compared with 11,752 pregnant patients with negative SARS-CoV-2 tests or no test or symptoms of COVID-19, using a national maternal and child health database.
