Patients with ovarian cancer commonly present with nonspecific symptoms. A majority of cases are diagnosed at a late stage, and little is known about the presentation of early-stage ovarian cancers.
In this study, researchers performed a retrospective chart review on 419 women with early-stage (i.e., stage I–II), high-risk epithelial ovarian cancer who were enrolled in a phase 3 clinical trial and who had available data on symptoms at diagnosis. Seventy-two percent of participants had at least one symptom at diagnosis, and 32% had two or more symptoms.
