In this double-blind, randomized, multicenter trial, researchers aimed to determine if withdrawing intravenous immune globulin (IVIg) was noninferior to continuing IVIg therapy in adult patients with stable chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). More than one third of eligible patients declined to participate, leaving 29 patients randomized to IVIg withdrawal and 31 patients to IVIg continuation (control). In the IVIg withdrawal group, the dose was tapered by 25% of the starting dose for three infusions, followed by placebo, for 24 weeks total.
