Abnormalities in left atrial size and function, sometimes called atrial myopathy, have been associated with adverse cardiovascular outcomes, but are they associated with dementia as well?
In this exploratory analysis, researchers retrospectively examined the association of multiple echocardiographic parameters of left atrial size and function with incident dementia in a large, well characterized, community-based cohort (n=4096; mean age, 75 years; 60% women; 22% Black).
