For patients with stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA), most of the attention in lipid management is focused on treatment of elevated low-density lipoprotein (LDL) with statins. A recent clinical trial identified a target LDL of <70 mg/dL as preferred for future stroke prevention (NEJM JW Neurol Jan 2020 and N Engl J Med 2020; 382:9). The importance of high triglycerides in patients with stroke or TIA has received less attention. These authors conducted a single-center registry study of patients admitted with stroke or TIA.
