Many single-tablet regimens (STRs) for antiretroviral therapy (ART) have only modest or nuanced efficacy, tolerability, and adherence-associated benefits, yet cost much more than multidrug generic regimens. Moreover, data are sparse regarding patients' acceptance of and experience with “de-simplification” from an STR to an equivalent two-tablet generic regimen. Investigators surveyed patients in the multicenter Spanish HIV/AIDS Network Cohort who had de-simplified their STR of either dolutegravir/abacavir/lamivudine (DGT/ABC/3TC) or rilpivirine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine (RPV/TDF/FTC) to two-pill versions with generic ABC/3TC or TDF/FTC, respectively. Of 216 eligible patients, 138 completed the survey.
